Constitution Day at Dyess Elementary

Dyess Elementary School will have a Constitution Day Flag Raising on Monday, Sept.17, at 8 a.m. in front of the school.   Students will recite and sing The Preamble in honor of the 231st anniversary of the signing of the Constitution, which took place on Sept.17, 1787. The anniversary of several other events will also be recognized with music at the flag raising: The “Star Spangled Banner” will be played following the pledges. It was written on Sept. 14, 1814. November 2018 Bond Election

Abilene ISD will have a bond referendum on the November 2018 ballot. The $138,679,000 bond packaged is designed to address facilities and growing student programs. AISD Seeks Volunteers for ‘Walk for Graduates’

Abilene ISD is seeking community volunteers to participate in its annual “Every Student Counts: Abilene ISD Walk for Graduates” on Saturday, Sept. 15. “Walk for Graduates” is a community and district outreach partnership where volunteers go door-to-door in an attempt to recover students who have not returned to school or those who are chronically absent. After the district identifies students who have not shown up for class at the beginning of the school year, trained volunteers visit the homes of these students, provide encouragement and offer available resources so they will return, stay and finish school.
